ACFEF apprenticeship committee appoints new chair

Kyle Richardson, CEC, CCE, AAC, culinary arts professor at Joliet Junior College, Joliet, Ill., has been elected chair of the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) apprenticeship committee for a two-year term. Lindy Robinson, business business-division dean, Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, Kan., was named chair elect, with her term commencing January 2012.

Richardson, a 30-year culinary industry veteran, succeeds Mary Zappone, CEC, AAC, chef-instructor at Westmoreland County Community College, Youngwood, Pa. In his new role, Richardson will be responsible for overseeing the committee as it evaluates eligible programs that offer training to students for initial and continuing ACFEF apprenticeship. Under his leadership, the committee will assess each program's ability to meet the ACFEF apprenticeship policies and procedures and recommend guidelines in culinary arts and foodservice management.
