I incorporate daily micro-blogging as a forum for effective reflection that can garner input from other students. Additionally, we use a web-based cell phone polling system (free!) in which students can anonymously post responses to, say, ethical issues as well as to offer feedback on kitchen practicals and student products.
Also, using social networking sites, I post some of the more candid/funny class pictures, while our website has the more professional 'face' of the class, including our community service projects, daily menu, etc. (www.CooksAndBakers.com).
Technology platforms in the classroom go way beyond just using a projector and computer in the classroom. Rather, the effective use of technology should be based in interactivity and, with good implementation, have measurable results.
